Enlighten 2022

Dionysus curated the City's installations for Enlighten Festival 2022, for the City Renewal Authority.

The three world-premiers included Atelier Sisu's Ephemeral - a sublime array of dichroic 'bubbles' filling Civic Square and enlivened with a floating bubble show every 30 minutes, between 5-10pm each day of 4-14 March.

In Garema Place, Kin evokes the healing process of Kinstugi - repairing broken objects with precious materials to celebrate their history – and applies it to the human spirit.

And 48 sculptural butterflies flutter around the Sydney and Melbourne Buildings – many literally flapping their wings – culminating in a high-exposure cluster in the centre of Northbourne Avenue, facing the city light rail station and tens of thousands of cars and travellers. Flutter Home is scientifically-informed artwork by Skunk Control, and was accompanied by an education workshop for children to learn about butterflies and make their own sculpture to take home.

Footfall in the city nearly doubled in the first weekend of this combined program.
